Floating market

27Mar10

One of the shots I wanted to be sure to get while in Thailand was a floating market. They still exist but many have become so popular among tourists that they products sold are more often souvenirs than food. You also need an early start in order to get more locals in your shots than [...]

My time in Thailand is nearly over. I’m on the island of Phuket now but I will catch a flight back to Bangkok this afternoon. Tomorrow I’ll begin the long series of flights home, crossing 12 time zones. The shot above was taken at Panyi island during a tour of Phang Nga Bay. This area [...]

I shot this with special permission at the Thai Puppet Show in The Aksra Theater in Bangkok last night. It was a fantastic performance and capped an amazing day of photographing temples in the ruins of Ayutthaya. So many images to share and so little time at the moment. More to come…

Wat Tung Yu

19Mar10

It’s the Burj Khalifa (formerly the Burj Dubai) — the tallest building in the world. Note to my mother: the observation deck is still closed so, no, I didn’t get to go [...]

Spring

12Mar10

Since I’ll be on the road for the next couple of weeks, and my ability to post may be hindered, I hated to leave you staring at a photo of my feet. Instead, I’ll leave you with the first sign of Spring in our backyard — the Witch Hazels that we planted last summer are [...]

Sometimes that little bit of extra leg room makes all the difference. My travel schedule is just about to shift into high gear. I leave for Thailand in a few hours with a short stop in Dubai along the way. I’ve been busily making preparations for weeks: getting photography permits, researching locations, etc., etc. But [...]

Sorry. Bad pun. I’m posting a couple of photos from Chile today since there’s been so much in the news since the earthquake last week. The shot above is from Valparaiso, on the coast west of Santiago. It and the following shot are from a trip I took to Chile a couple of years ago. [...]
